Frequently Asked Questions

How do I choose the right sock height?

Start with your shoes and how much coverage you need. When choosing socks for work boots, go with crew socks or boot socks that rise above the collar to keep it from rubbing against your skin. Choose a taller style for demanding work or rough terrain, and no-show socks for a low-profile fit with low-top shoes.

What if I’m between sock sizes?

Size up. Our merino wool socks are designed for a snug fit that helps them stay in place. A size that’s too small can feel tight and overstretch the fabric, putting extra stress on the toes and making holes more likely.

Will cushioned socks make my work boots feel tighter?

Yes, they can. Our merino wool work socks have cushioning underfoot and extra padding in high-wear areas, which takes up more room than an unpadded sock. If your boots already fit just right with thin socks, they may feel tighter with this pair.

What should I do if my socks wear out?

HYWELL offers a 10-year warranty. If your socks develop holes or other damage, contact our customer service team and let us know what happened. Including a photo of the damaged area helps us understand the issue and get you help faster.

Do merino wool socks pill?

Yes, pilling is unavoidable with wool socks—just like genuine leather develops creases. Friction from shoes and boots can cause small fuzz balls to form on the surface of wool socks. Pilling is usually light and limited to areas that rub against your footwear, and it shouldn’t affect how the socks feel or perform.

Can I put my wool socks in the dryer?

Yes, you can tumble dry HYWELL socks on low heat. Avoid high heat. For longer-lasting wear, we recommend hand washing in cool water below 86°F (30°C) and air drying. Press out excess water with a dry towel rather than twisting or wringing.

Can I machine wash merino wool socks?

Yes. Machine wash wool socks in cold water, no warmer than 86°F (30°C). Use a mild, pH-neutral detergent (pH 6–8), and avoid alkaline detergents or formulas containing enzymes.
